Hi, Animal-loving Members and friends, and guests,
Thanks for stopping by our website. Tell others about us!
We had two great days at Consumers National Bank in Carrollton on Friday and Saturday October 23 & 24 to sell our cookbooks, stands, and deliscious baked goods brought in by RMM. Thanks be to our volunteers for working their shifts and to Consumers (Bev Newell-new member too!), for allowing us to be there.
The cookbooks look great and those on the committee did a great job of putting it all together, getting it published, and now we have to sell them! Check out our "coming events" page as to where they can be purchased as of right now. We will be at Kishmans Superstore in Minerva on December 4, 5, & 6 during the daytime. Further details will be posted on our coming events and the events calendar.
The Benefit Dinner & Silent Auction is shaping up quite nicely. We could possibly have over 100 people attend. That would be awesome! We will have a better ticket sales count as soon as more send in their reservations by this Saturday. We have some really neat auction items and door prizes. Area businesses have been very kind and generous, as also individuals making cash contributions of sponsorship and we certainly thank them for it.
Hettler Engineering is coming to our November 3rd. meeting. He is bringing the site plans for our review and vote. Then the site plans are sent into the EPA and ODOT for approval. How exciting! Now we wait, concentrate on raising more money, pursing grant funding with increased vigor and enthusiasm, and keep spreading the word on our goals.
Thanks everyone for anything you do for us and help us in any way!

Hi, Animal Lovers and friends,
What a day yesterday at the Mug-Bog-Fest! I wasn't sure what to expect as I had never attended a "Mud-Bog" event before. Goodness! Those vehicles sure got muddy! Check out Terry & Helen Truex's picture on our "Events Album."
Terry grilled the hot dogs to perfection, Helen served them up, and I collected the money! We had a great day all around. Oh, and the lollipops sure sold to the kids!
Thanks to Jamie Rosenberger for bringing her "Batman" canopy, setting it up for us, and then returning to take it down. Thanks, Jamie!
We are still waiting for Hettler Engineering to finish up the site plans. There is a hold-up with the driveway plans as they are considering putting the entrance off of the access road at the north end of our property instead of off the State Route. Hopefully the plans will be finished by our November 3 meeting for presentation to the members. We have to choose a plan and then it is sent into the EPA and ODOT for approval.
In the meantime, we keep plugging along raising money, and talking to the general public on our goal of building a shelter on the land we purchased. We have had numerous people join in the last month through our fund-raising efforts.
We are gearing up for the Benefit Dinner/Silent Auction November 7th. We have been collecting lots of goodie items for the auction, door prizes and selling attendence tickets.
Please tell others about us and what we are trying to accomplish. Spread the word far and wide so we can increase our membership and gain more support!
We have such a fine array of volunteers and they do a great job for us!
Thanks everyone!

Hi, Animal Lovers and friends,
Wow! We sure had two successful events on Sunday, September 20th. Both were going on at the same time! Thanks to all our dedicated volunteers and their hard work to handle both of these events for us!
The Octoberfest at Lake Mohawk's Pavilion in Malvern, Ohio was awesome. We had a very successful day and talked to many people about us, recruited members, sold pet products, and received generous donations.
The report from Joyce and Erin on the Mud Bog Fest on Canton Road (next to the property we purchased), was great too! We sold numerous hot dogs, received donations, and they, along with Terry and Helen, talked to many people at this event about our goal of raising money to build an animal shelter on our land.
We have more fund-raising actitives coming up, so check out "Coming Events" on our website for them.
We have so many dedicated and wonderful volunteers helping with so much. We can't achieve all we try to do without their help. What is so awesome, is the more "word about us" we get out there, the efforts are paying off as more members have joined us and this is truly inspirational!
Unti next time, keep us in your thought to succeed in our goal, and if you haven't joined us, please do so. It is only $15.00 per adult per year. (Although the membership is from January 1st, to December 31st, there is a grace period to rejoin for 2 or 3 months after the first of the year, so please consider being a member even for the remainder of this year. Membership growth helps us with grant-funding too!)
Thanks, everyone,

Hi, Animal Lovers, members, and friends!
Wow! What a great day we had yesterday at the Golden Age Retreat. The day was absolutely beautiful and we talked to numerous people, sold dog and cat items, and received donations. Thanks to Patti and Erin for coming out and working this event. We had fun too!
Next on the agenda is the auction at Albrecht's on September 11th. We will be doing the eat stand there and are looking forward to it! Then on Saturday it is "Dancing on the Bridge in Malvern, Ohio. That should be a grand day too!
We received notice from the Carroll County Foundation honoring our request for funding to help with expenses for the driveway entrance. The grant is for $750.00. We are very appreciative of their faith in us and what we are trying to accomplish...building an animal shelter on our property for Carroll County!
Keith Barnett, local singer/artist, graciously donated his "Good Will" proceeds to the CCAPL when he had his concert at the Scooter's Restaurant on Canton Rd. in Carrollton on August 29th. Thanks, Keith for your support and interest in our organization.
We have had many more people join and this is so exciting. More volunteers are signing up to help with fund-raisers too and that is awesome!
Gotta go for now. Check back soon for more updates and information on our website.
Have a great day and a wonderful fall!

Hi Animal lovers, member and friends,
Two very successful fund-raisers are now in the past. The August 1st, Dellroy Market event was awesome! Many thanks to Jerry Haynam for allowing us to be there. So many people gave donations, bought items we had for sale, and bought 50/50 tickets. The winner donated his half back to us!
Then on August 15th, Angela Townsend, owner of the Dellroy Drive-In graciously let us set up under the huge tree near the parking lot for another fund-raiser. We had great success with this one too! Haven't heard from the winner of the 50/50 yet to see if she wants the winnings or will donate them back to us. It was a hot day, but the large tree provided good shade. We sold all the baked goods, more cat and dog toys, and handed out a literature on our growing organization.
The photo shoot on Wednesday, July 12, was grand. Nancy Schaar from The Times-Reporter, Leigh Ann Rutledge of the Carrollton Free Press Standard, and Edward Hale from the Malvern/Minerva/Mr. Thrifty (also one of our members), came out to do the photo shoot on our land. Numerous members showed up for this exciting event for us! Thanks everyone. Some even brought their pooches too. That was great.
Thursday, July 13, members attended the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce "after hours" meeting. I gave a brief speech on our organization, members present helped with distributing literature and a survey on us, and we were given the proceeds of the 50/50 raffle sales! The winner, Lynn Bond, graciously gave us her half too! Awesome!
Friday around 1:30 p.m. one of our Directors, Joyce Ruble and myself, went to the WHBC radio station, 14.80 AM and 94.1 FM, on Market Ave. in Canton, Oh. Jeff Mears did a 15-minute radio interview on the CCAPL. I listened to it this morning. Flubbed around a little, gotta think and talk fast...but hopefully the presentation will generate some interest in our organization. Joyce did not want to talk so she let me do the talking. She's shy and was afraid she might flub up. Well, I did that for both of us!
We are moving along and still waiting for the "site plans" to be finished. They will go to the EPA and then after approval of the site plans, ODOT will tell us where the driveway has to be installed on the property. Things should shape up soon and we may be able to get the driveway in this year or possibly to it next spring. In the meantime, we will keep raising money towards expenses and obligations we have to meet.
Grant funding will be pursued as soon as we get all the intricate details needed regarding the shelter for grant writing.
That's all for now folks! Keep spreading the word about us and recruit members! Even if they are out-of-state, membership is vital to this organization's growth, and will also help us with grant writing!
Until next time,
Respectfully submitted by Eileen Rohrer, President CCAPL

Hi, Everyone,
This past month, we have had two very successful fund-raisers. One was at Dollar General Market on Canton Rd. in Carrollton, Oh.. We sold hot dogs, cat and dog items we have purchased, emergency pet signs for windows and doors, handed out literature on our organization, showed picture of the land we purchased July, 1st, and encouraged people to join us. We almost made enough for our loan payment!
The second fund-raisers was at the Dellroy Market in Dellroy, Oh. We sold dog and cat items, homemade dog biscuits (made and donated by member Nadine F.), pet emergency signs, delicious home-made baked goods (made by member Rose Marie M.), had a 50/50 raffle ticket sales, took in generous donations, and talked to and gave out literature about us to many people! Wow! What a great day we had! Thanks to all the caring volunteers who worked their shifts at both of these fund-raising events. Our efforts paid off!
Chairperson, Amy, is currently getting the CCAPL cookbook details finalized and sent in to Morris Press. Hopefully within 30 days, we will get the proof back, go over it, and get it published. They will sell for $10.00. If anyone is interested in ordering one, let us know. I think the shipping for one cookbook is $2.00. More will be posted on our website soon. We thank all the people who submitted some really interesting and delicious recipes!
Hettler Engineering is still working on the "site plans." We have to choose one and then it is sent into the EPA for approval. They inturn will tell us where the driveway entrance will have to be placed in conjunction with the animal shelter, and then we wait for their approval. All these things take time, and in the meantime, we keep plugging along!
Take care, and check back for updates as we get them!
Best regards,
Eileen Rohrer, CCAPL President

Hi, All animal lovers and friends,
On July 1st, 2009, the purchase agreement was signed by the President for the 5.393 acres on Canton Rd. (Rt. 43 between Carrollton and Malvern, Ohio) and the co-signers signed the loan. (We thank them immensly for their graciousness in doing this.) We are on our way! How exciting!
We have come so far in such a short time since our inception in January 2007, by accomplishing one of our two goals and now the other part of our journey begins by raising funds to build the shelter upon the land we have purchased. We could not have reached this segment of our goals without the help from the general public, the "People for People Fund" grant, the Humane Society Endowment gift, and of course our wonderful members!
Many things have to be considered and also patience must be a virtue as the remaining steps to completion will be arduous, tedious, and more than likely frustrating at times but we will persever and attain our goal to build a wonderful shelter, designed to save lives, educated the public in numerous areas of pet care, and assist in helping so many wonderful creatures which will come under our care. We know there will be some we cannot save due to health or other reasons, but this will only be done on veterinarian recommendation, not euthanized for space!
Contact your friends, neighbors, relatives, and any animal lover you know and tell them about our organization! If they wish to make a contribution, they (and you) can use the convenient PayPal tab on our home page for this. All monetary gifts will be acknowledge.
With having to make monthly payments now for our loan, we are committed to holding numerous fund-raising events to cover the loan payments, and still contribute to the shelter fund. We need help, so if you are in the area of Carrollton, Ohio, please consider joining us and helping! You will be glad you did and we will be extremely appreciative!
We will keep you posted on this blog of more developments as they arise.
Thanks everyone!

On May 21, 2009, the loan application was signed for the purchase of the land on Rt. 43 (Canton Rd.) Carrollton. Now it will take about three weeks or more for processing. Once it is approved, then the co-signers (who wish to remain anonymous), will be officially signing for the loan. The CCAPL Board of Directors have approved myself as signing the purchase agreement on behalf of the CCAPL for the land. This is so exciting!
We are still waiting for the EPA report. I was told it could take as long as a month for approval so we must have patience.
Many members and friends will be walking with their animals in the Carrollton Memorial Day Parade on Monday May 25 at 10 a.m.
Have a great Memorial Day Weekend everyone!

President

Hi, Everyone,
Thanks for stopping by and checking out our website and our blog.
Things are moving a long. The soil testing was done on Friday, April 24, 2009 at 10 a.m. A couple test holes out of four that had to be dug proved worthy and now we wait for the report to be sent in, and the EPA to approve the property and tell us what kind of system needs put in for the animal shelter.
We will be giving more updates and information as it comes in after the May 5th, 2009 meeting, so stay tuned!
Thanks everyone and Recruit members!

Hello all animal lovers, members, and friends,
At the April 7th, 2009 regular meeting of the CCAPL, members present voted to pursue purchasing 5.393 acres on State Route 43 between Carrollton and Malvern. With the EPA's approval of the sewer systems needed, this land will become our animal shelter site. The owners of the property are willing to work with us as it may take as long as 90-120 days to find out if the land is suitable for the two sewer systems we need.
This will take some time, as site applications have to be done, test hole sites have to be dug, and a certified soil-testing-person has to report his evaluation of soil content, permeability of the soil, etc. and sewer plans have to be done and submitted, and much more.
Mike Hettler, of Hettler Engineering has been contacted to help with all the things that have to be done. (This was voted on in 2008 when another land was considered to purchase but we were not ready at the time for that
commitment ). Mike will work with us and report his progress so we can present to the Board of Directors and the members.
With this commitment comes even more determination with our organization to see this dream become a reality. If you know of anyone willing to join (even if the cannot attend meetings or help with fund-raisers), their membership is vitally important to our growing organization. Recruit members!
I'm presently working on three grants for help with purchasing the property and other expenses we will soon incure. The soil testing fee is around $500.00. Plus there will be other costs soon, I'm sure.
Because we do not have all the money to purchase the land, if it happens, we are presently setting up a loan at a local bank. They do not see a problem with financing the balance on the property, and we have a person who is willing to co-sign the loan for us. Our loan payments will run around $305-340.00 a month for 10 years, with the option of paying it off before it is due. Therefore, volunteers are needed to help with fund-raising activities and more events to be scheduled. This is a must if we are going to have monthly payments to meet!
More information and updates will be posted as it becomes available.
Thanks everyone for all your support!
"Dream it, Believe it, Achieve it"
Your President,
Eileen Rohrer
